Hi, my name is David Prior and I'm a UK-based game developer. Earlier this year I graduated from the University of Wales, Newport with a 2:1 in BSc (Hons) Game Development & Artificial Intelligence, and won the University of Wales, Newport / Institution of Analysts and Programmers award for Best Game Development Project 2009-2010!
Events
To date, I have taken part in such game development events as:
- The First Annual Global Game Jam (2009), from which the game Lag was featured in Indie Games: The Weblog as one of the top games of the event
- X48 Microsoft XNA GameCamp 2009 at the University of Derby, where Bellis Perennis took 3rd place
- Ludum Dare 16 (Gravity)
- Global Game Jam 2010 (Global Game Jam Game Jam Boat Game)
- X48 Microsoft XNA GameCamp 2010 at Birmingham City University (Drain Bamage)
- Dare to be Digital 2010 with the team "Game Bucket", where our game pitch made it through to the interview stages in Wolverhampton but was sadly not picked to go forward to the main event
- Ludum Dare 18 (PIXELSPACE)
- Experimental Gameplay Project: "Zero Buttons" (PIXELSPACE EGP Edition)
I also hope to enter a selection of other events in the near future, including further rounds of The Experimental Gameplay Project and Ludum Dare (and Mini-LD), the Independent Games Festival and the next Global Game Jam.
Programming
I have experience with C++, C# with XNA and have also worked briefly with Java, plus I'm also interested in web development and confident working with XHTML, XML, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL, and built the davecheesefish Games website myself from scratch including various feeds and APIs from Youtube, Vimeo, Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook.
Me
All in all I'm a typical nerd - on the computer far too much for my own good (when I'm not inside it with a screwdriver), and unnaturally attracted towards shiny objects with buttons and blinking lights. I'm also into archery, 10-pin bowling, karting, design, walking around the local countryside whenever it's not raining, and extraordinarily long words.
